| Ready For the World by Mister Lee LIM’s Fashion Club Collective host the MIRAGE Fashion Show |
|
In the evening of April 16th, at New York's Altman building, LIM College's Fashion Club Collective presented the Mirage Fashion Show. It drew inspiration from a dystopian and interplanetary society, in the vein of Mad Max and Blade Runner. The looks reflected characters, who proved that only the stylish survive. The Collective reeled in top name designers, such as Costume National, Shipley & Halmos, and Florsheim by Duckie Brown. Other's who showcased were independent designers Krane (of Canada), Kai-aakman (of Korea), Chromat (of the USA), Injury (of Australia), The Local Firm (of Sweden), and Moon (out of our very own New York). Candace Ang exclusively handled women's jewelry while Bing Bang graced men's. Probably one of the most important factors of the show was it's partnership with the NDSS (National Down Syndrome Society). As most of us know, the fashion world can often times be quite removed from everyday society. To demonstrate that their intent was grander than simply breaking into the biz, the Collective wanted to raise public awareness for the charity and saw that proceeds from the event went to benefit them. And to believe, the Collective is comprised entirely of students? To combine all the above factors and execute a production of this proportion is truly note worthy. The Collective was led by the young, Alex Chapman. He envisioned it's initial concept and saw to it that all the proper steps be taken, in order to bring the show to fruition. As for it's impeccable styling, we should credit Style Directors, Christina Drummond and Hoda Safavi. Casting Director, Kyla Hart, worked meticulously to select the strongest talent from Fenton Moon and Red Models. Ava Improta and Sami Rotter held down the production side. However, what would front of house be without the Promotions Director, Quin Acciani? Even going as far as providing something as rarer than a two dollar bill, gift bags. Of which, included items from Areaware and Timo Weiland. Take note, cause whether or not you're familiar with these names now, it's more than likely that they will be working along side you and I in the near future.
